This is an original drawing depicting Mary adoring Christ in the cave of His birth in Bethlehem. Barely seeing her face, we look down over Mary’s shoulder. All of her love and attention is focused on Jesus while His gaze is fixed upon His mother.
Mary always directs us to Jesus and His loving gaze. We encounter this truly when we visit Him in Adoration.
“Midnight Mass. During Mass, God’s presence pierced me through and through. A moment before the Elevation I saw the Mother of God and the Infant Jesus and the good Old Man (St. Joseph). The Most Holy Mother spoke these words to me: My daughter, Faustina, take this most precious Treasure, and she gave me the Infant Jesus. When I took Jesus in my arms, my soul felt such unspeakable joy that I am unable to describe it.” (Diary 846)
